February Favouries

My Favourites this month

This month has flown by, its nearly March! where does the time go? I thought I would do a quick post about the products I've been loving this month, there's only a few as I didn't really try a lot of new products this month. So here we go.....

I  have been loving using this HD brow quad, I've had this for a long time but I never really gave it any attention until very recently. I use the dark brown colour as I have naturally dark brows but im not blessed with perfectly arched brows ( thanks dad!!) so I use the powder with an angled brush to fill any gaps and make my brows appear thicker. Filling your brows makes a hue difference it really makes you look a lot more put together and polished.

If you have annoying flat fine hair like me that very rarely has volume unless you tease it like a crazy person, then you need this in your life! Its a volumising powder which really gives you major volume without backcombing ( which isn't great for hair). You just sprinkle a little bit of the powder in the roots of your hair and just play around with your hair until you get your desired results. Its really easy and quick to do, and saves you from all that backcombing!

Finally I have been really liking using these two lip products (separately). I'm not big on nudish lip colours on me but I really like this colour its not too pale which is perfect for me. The bare minerals gloss in marvellous moxie is a perfect pale pink with a little shimmer and it also is a lip plumper which is an added bonus.

The best hair oil i have ever tried!!

In the winter my hair tends to get dry and annoyingly static, usually this is a sign of dry hair, so I began using Moroccan oil as I have heard lots of good things about it. I wash my hair and apply about a pea size amount to damp hair and then blow-dry and it is left feeling really soft and shiny (not greasy). I sometimes apply it to dry hair just on the ends as the ends are the most dry and it really makes a difference:). I definitely recommend this product not only do I love it but my dad does too he says it smells amazing and that he thinks his hair is growing back because of it!! (not sure about the hair growing part) but it does smell amazing :)

I get mine from here:

Bridal makeup for less!!

I did a similar bridal makeup that I did on my sister on my cousin today but using all drugstore products for the eyes. Who says cheaper makeup isn't as good as high end products!! when it comes to eye shadow I think Barry M is amazing, they have lose pigment glitters that are very similar in quality to the mac pigments, so if your on a budget I really recommend Barry M makeup (in boots). I used the Bh cosmetics eye shadow palette which I purchased online, the shadows are very pigmented and I love using this palette its very versatile and super cheap. The liner I used I got awhile ago from Loreal and its very similar to mac and the Bobbi brown gel liner. The lashes I got super cheap from a random shop :). However on the skin I did use some higher end makeup which are really great quality and last a very long time, all product I used will be listed below.

Products use:
Foundation: Dior nude skin
concealer: Laura mercier
Powder: Laura mercier loose powder
Eye shadows: mixtures of pinks, purple and black in the crease, on the lid Barry M loose pigment in number 15
Blush: Vivo (Tesco brand)
Contour/bronzer: Benefit hoola
Lips: Maybelline lip liner and Ysl lipstick (nudish pink colour)

DIY : Tomato exfoliator!

If your like me and exfoliate your skin way more than you should, here is a much more gentle natural alternative..Tomatoes!! Yes the tomatoes we eat. It is recommended we exfoliate our skin about 3 times a week to remove dead skin and clean out pores but over exfoliating can cause more harm than good, it removes the skins protective barrier and makes it much more prone to sensitivity. Over exfoliating my already sensitive skin made it more sensitive (if that's possible), so I looked into using less abrasive methods of exfoliating, this is when I came across tomatoes and their many benefits for skin. Tomatoes contain vitamin C which is great for brightening dull skin and acne scarring, they also contain vitamin A which is needed for healthy skin, and my favourite there great for exfoliating skin and leave it feeling super smooth.

Here's how I use tomatoes to exfoliate:

1. Cut a thin slice of tomato
2. Rub it on clean skin avoiding the eye area
3. You can wash it off straight away with warm water, or leave it on as a treatment for 10 minutes.
4.Splash you face with cool water and pat dry
You should be left with a noticeably brighter and smoother complexion :)

Good luck

Bright eyes and a pink lip!

I don't often use bright colours on myself or when I do other peoples makeup (probably because I never did it right!) but after doing an intense makeup training course I learnt how to apply colour without it looking too crazy and out there. I did a second day makeup look on my sister in which I used different shades of pink and green, I always make sure I blend the shadows then apply more colour then blend again. Here my sister is actually wearing her second day wedding clothes minus the jewellery she wore, the makeup looked quite intense without the scarf on, but once it was on it looked just right. Details of all the products used will be listed below :)

A bride again!

I transformed my big sister into a bride again today, I tried to recreate the look she had on her wedding day its not quite the same, but almost :). I used a variety of products which will all be listed below (if I can remember!). It was fun creating a bridal look because I haven't had the chance to this type of makeup which is pretty dramatic and full on but I didn't want it to look too heavy so I did lots and lots of blending which is key. I hope you guys like it :)

Review: Febuary Glossybox

Glossybox is a monthly subscription beauty box, in which you receive Five products that are being buzzed  about in the beauty world, you receive sample sizes and sometimes full sizes. Recently I haven't been loving past glossyboxes they just weren't that exciting. So when this months box arrived in the post I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised, I loved the print on the box which was a valentine inspired one and I received two full-size products and some interesting new brands that I hadn't heard of. I have tried out all of the products and I can honestly say I will use them all :). My favourites are the Maybelline honey beige lipstick which is very creamy and pigmented. The Ciate London paint pot, which has staying power and the colour is vibrant and great for summer and the Eldora  false lashes which look natural and are very easy to apply. Here are a few pictures of what I received in my box :)

DIY: Brightening spot fighting mask!

Sometimes the best things to help with skincare are in our kitchens, I'm not a big mask girl but recently I've been loving making this at home mask, and I've seen noticeable improvements in my skin. All I do is mix about two to three tablespoons of steal cut oats with half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, its doesn't smell great! But I put it on my face for about 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water and my skin look instantly brighter. Apple cider has a lot of skincare benefits it is antiseptic so fights breakouts and oats are naturally brightening so the two together are very powerful. Give it a go!!

Favourites: Skincare

I'm abit of a skincare freak, my family think I'm crazy because I'm always trying different products from shop bought to home made masks, but how will you know what's best for your skin if you never explore?!( that's my excuse anyway!). I have carefully chosen my top 5 skincare favourites which I couldn't live without and would cry if they discontinued (just kidding!!). I have tried many products over the years not realising that they were stripping my skin and making it breakout central! All the products mentioned below helped calm and clear my skin.

Alpha H Liquid Gold
This is an amazing skin resurfacing product, it claims to lighten scarring, sun damage and even help with fine lines, I use this every other day before bed with a cotton pad and wake up to a much brighter complexion, I credit this to lightening marks I had from previous blemishes. It does take time to diminish scarring so don't expect results overnight but do expect to wake up with noticeably brighter skin. On days when I use this I don't use a night moisturiser as it works better on its own.

Dr.Organics Moroccan Argan Oil

Next is this little gem, Dr. Organics Moroccan argan oil, I love this because its multi purpose you can use it on your face, hair, nails and body which is amazing. Argan oil has been around for centuries and famous for its skincare befits, its high in vitamin E which your skin loves and its anti ageing(better to prevent than to cure!). I use this every night when im not using Alpha H, it really moisturisers and makes my skin feel soft and supple.

Tea tree Oil
This is by far the best spot treatment I have tried and I have tried many! Most spot treatments over dry the skin which just make the spot more obvious and harder to cover, whereas this doesn't it has never made my skin dry. I use it when I see a spot coming and the next day its noticeably smaller (im serious!) http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/shop-by-range/tea-tree/tea-tree-oil.aspx

 Aloe vera gel
Another multi purpose product, and all natural. It can be used on sun burns, blemishes, scarring, allergic reactions and for dry skin as a moisturiser or a night treatment. I use this when my skin is feeling abit dry or when I've been in the sun for a long time. A must have!! and its super cheap!http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=515

La Roche-Posay Anthelios
Until recently I never wore sunscreen, which is a big no no!! No matter what the weather its important to wear a high factor spf every single day, I use this one everyday before I apply a moisturiser, I love it because its designed for sensitive skin and is free from parabans and scent free, it super light and doesn't feel greasy like a lot of sunscreens.

I don't have perfect skin but these products all help keep my sensitive skin calm and spot free. If you
decide to try any of the products I've mentioned be sure to let me know how you get on :-)

Quick ootd and motd!!

Ive been real lazy lately with makeup and outfits, choosing my precious sleep over getting ready, every morning is the same old routine get out of bed navigate my way to the bathroom with half open eyes, but today was a work dinner so I had to look presentable. when I want to do a nice makeup look I tend to put more emphasis on my eyes, so I pulled out my trustee liner pen and did a cat eye, and loaded on the mascara!! the rest of my face I stuck to the usual blush and lips (all details below)

Here is a picture of the makeup I did and all the products I used

Foundation: Dr Jart BB cream http://www.boots.com/en/Dr-Jart-Water-Fuse-Beauty-Balm-Cream-SPF25-50ml_1260414/
Concealer: Laura Mercier undercover pot intensity 2 (House of Fraser)
Blush: bare minerals in shade The Faux pas
Lipstick: YSL rouge volupte in number 3
Lip liner: Maybelline colour sensational in velvet beige
Eyeliner: from Soap and glory http://www.boots.com/en/Soap-Glory™-Supercat™-Eyeliner-pen-Carbon-Black-Extreme_1238278/
Eyebrows: HD brow kit (not picture)
Brushes: Real techniques buffing and powder brush by Samantha chapman (boots)

Ok now on to my outfit, nothing fancy because as usual I was running late and had to put on anything that didn't need any ironing :). I'm wearing a white jumper top from H and M, skinny trousers from Topshop and my coat, my lovely sister got for me from next. As my outfit was pretty simple It gave me an excuse to wear this beautiful statement necklace I recently purchased from the alamode collection on instagram, I was super pleased when this came in the post the quality is amazing and it was a bargain (follow alamode_collection on instagram). Below I added a few pictures of what I wore.

The oversized camel coat..

This is one of my favourite trends this season an oversized camel coat, and the good thing is pieces like this always stay in fashion the classic cut and shape, so its fashionable and an investment and will never go out of date. I like wearing mine with a simple outfit with a few accent pieces like a bag and some killer heels!! I got mine at Zara last year and it was a bargain :-). I've seen quite a few celebrities/models rock this trend and I think it suits all shapes and sizes.

A few of my fave looks;

And here are a few not very clear pics of me trying to be cool! ;)

Review: Revlon nearly naked foundation

I recently purchased Revlon's nearly naked foundation from boots it promises the following;

Makeup so refreshingly light, it melts right in, creating a fresh even look. So the only one that knows you are wearing makeup is you. Blends seamlessly, buildable coverage.

I tested this foundation out today so in total I wore it for I'd say 13 hours without powder and by the end of the day it was still intact. My skin is combination more towards the oily side and can get dry especially during the winter. What I like about this foundation is that its a light coverage almost like a tinted moisturiser which I love for everyday wear, it gives enough coverage to even out your skin tone and looks natural at the same time.I applied it with the real techniques buffing brush and it blends easily into the skin. I did have a few scars from previous blemishes which were still peaking through which were easily concealed with some concealer, so if you do have blemishes and scaring you can apply concealer where you need it, however if you have a lot to cover I wouldn't recommend this foundation as it very light in coverage, I suggest trying the Vichy dermablend foundation if you want the full coverage its amazing and covers everything. So overall I like this foundation its very natural and it doesn't feel like your wearing any makeup so if you like natural glowing within type makeup this is for you.

You can get this foundation and the Vichy Dermablend here http://www.boots.com/en/Revlon-Nearly-Naked-8482-Make-Up-Foundation_1298536/

My favourite cleanser for sensitive skin!

I have tried and tested many cleansers from high end to drug store all promising to do amazing things to my skin, but instead doing the opposite. My skin is extremely sensitive and prone to the occasional breakout so finding something that will sooth my skin and at the same time heal breakouts is a very difficult task, and after years of using lots of products that made my skin worse I finally decided less is more and that I needed to cut out all the harsh products I was using. After doing a lot of research I stumbled across Bioderma sensibo h20 - micelle solution (that's a mouthful!), which a lot of bloggers and youtubers have been raving about, and they were right its amazing!! I noticed straight away how it calmed my sensitive skin and also how it calmed inflamed breakouts, and its amazing at removing makeup, I use it with cotton pads every morning and night and its been a lifesaver. so if your skin isn't be very nice to you I recommend  this cleanser its my holy grail cleanser!!

Good luck :)
